I am a third year student studying Surface Pattern Design in Swansea. I produce illustrative, printed and embroidered textiles inspired by the architecture, street life and bustle of European Cities.
about the work
This design was painted during a recent trip to Amsterdam. I have attempted to capture the liveliness and chaotic atmosphere of the place. I painted solely in blue as a reference to Dutch Porcelain. Its aesthetic is reminiscent of classic willow pattern china, the subject matter, mirrored repeat and illustrative style make it a contemporary play on traditional design.
