Bringing Reena Simon aka @hygge_for_home‘s vision to life began some time ago. Flourishing from Reena’s love for sofa.com‘s comfy designs which she enjoyed for years with her family; we blended her beautiful Scandi inspired style with the expertise of our inhouse design team, to create the Romy.
Hygge, a term that lies at the heart of Reena’s brand as well as our newest design, is a Scandinavian term which denotes cosiness, comfortable conviviality and contentment that nourishes our well being. On a mission to share her tips and knowledge on building a cosy home, Reena began her own interior journey while transforming a 1960’s bungalow in Wales into a dreamy serene escape for her family.

The design process
“Creating a collection with sofa dot com was a natural choice for me. I have always admired their brand and the quality craftsmanship they bring to their product, their attention to detail, commitment to customer satisfaction and dedication to creating timeless pieces aligned perfectly with my own values as a designer.”
Beginning the design journey with Reena almost 2 years ago, attention to detail has been poured into the collection, to ensure it fulfilled the desire for minimalistic comfort that inspired it.
“Collaborating with sofa.com has been an incredible experience. Working closely with their in-house design team and having the opportunity to see my ideas come to life has been truly fulfilling. Throughout the design process, we went back and forth with prototypes to refine the collection.”
The inspiration
Scandinavian design principles of simplicity, cosiness, nature and functionality form the back bone of the Romy.
“The design of the collection took inspiration from organic forms found in nature. Soft lines enhance this visual appeal and invite people to relax and unwind. The aim was to create a sofa that seamlessly blends with its surroundings, just as nature does.” Ideal for open plan spaces, it’s low back form ensures the horizon of the room is uninterrupted creating a serene space.
“We carefully selected fabrics from linen to chunky weave textures that evoke the feeling of being surrounded by nature. These materials not only look visually appealing but also provide a cosy, inviting and tactile feeling”.
A versatile marvel
The Romy’s modular design contributes significantly to it’s functionality. Available as a full set or as individual modules, the sofa is fully customisable so you can tailor it to your home. Whether you are looking for a compact cosy corner or have the luxury of a large open plan space, there’s a configuration for you. For a unique twist, our designers specially adapted the back of the Romy sofa and footstool module with additional cushioning to make it suitable for a back to back design.
Perfect for family life or homes that like to host, its versatile modules can be shuffled around to fit ever-changing lifestyles. While the Romy sofa is available in over 100 fabrics; with Reena we have introduced 3 new neutral tones with extra durability for busy homes. Hygge Chunky Weave (Available in Nordic Pine & Shearling) has a thicker composition for better wear, while Our Hygge Smart Linen (Pampas) has a special finish that has a stain resistant finish to make spills… stress free!
