2021 Interior Trends: Cool Cocooning

With more time spent at home than ever before, creating a place where you can well and truly get comfy has never been more important. From stretching out and putting your feet up to curling up under a blanket, the idea of ‘cocooning’ in a safe space of serenity and homely comfort has become a key focus in home design. It’s no surprise, then, that ‘Cool Cocooning’ is emerging as one of the biggest interior trends for 2021 – allowing you to create your very own world of comfort.

How to create your own cocoon of comfort

But how do we see this idea of cocooning translate in interior design? Well the most important thing, of course, is choosing pieces of furniture that truly allow you to get comfy – designs that are made for lying down, as well as sitting!

Deep seated comfort

Deep seated sofas are a great first step in the move to comfort – there’s nothing better than having that sumptuous seat in which you can sink into after a day of working, home schooling or studying.  Look for squishy sofas with feather and foam filled cushions for the ultimate lounging experience, and scatter cushion back sofa designs are absolutely perfect for creating a cocoon of cosiness.

Tactile textures

Textures are key in creating a cosy, comfy home, and can totally transform how a room looks and feels. To create the ultimate cool cocoon, add extra soft and comfy elements such as decadently plump scatter cushions and luxurious blankets and throws in tactile, natural materials like linen and wool. Little touches like this are the perfect way to make a room feel warm and snuggly, especially on shorter days and colder nights.

Room to stretch out

If being able to lie down and stretch out is something you love, an L shaped chaise sofa, or corner sofa, is a great way of upping the cosiness level! Having a big, comfy sofa that you can fit the whole family on for movie nights is great – but it’s even better when you have the sofa all to yourself for a quiet night in! Spread out, put your feet up and get cosy underneath a soft blanket – add some scented candles, a cup of tea and a good book to set the mood, and you’re good to go!

Furniture with curves

Finding furniture that is designed with smooth curves and rounded edges is a great way to bring comfort home. Intended to embrace you like a warm hug, curvaceous furniture will instantly bring new energy into your interiors – one of relaxation and comfort. Curvy shapes also look stunning in velvet – the opulent fabric and rich, jewel tones are a match made in interior heaven for rounded sofas and armchairs that make you want to curl up and cocoon in luxury.
