Sophie Robinson’s top tips on how to embrace colour this Christmas

Known for her bold use of colour and keen eye when marrying clashing patterns, Sophie Robinson is an acclaimed interior stylist with a refreshingly original perspective. When looking for advice on how to brighten up your home this season, who better to turn to than the queen of colour herself?

Read on to discover Sophie’s top five tips on how to embrace colour this Christmas…

Tip 1: “Fresh flowers can be disappointing this time of year, so don’t be afraid to fake it!’’

Let’s face it, fresh flowers aren’t a roaring fire’s best friend! We fully support Sophie’s pro-false stance and recommend taking a look at some of the beautiful bouquets over at Amaranthine Blooms to keep your home from turning into a wilting wonderland!

Tip 2: “Update your living room with colourful cushions and super-soft throws in rich jewel-like colours to make it feel cosy for Christmas.”

We’re crazy about Sophie’s use of contrasting jewel tones! By adding bold accessories (such as our luxuriously soft scatter cushion in Dusty Rose cotton matt velvet), Sophie’s created a treasure trove of colour that feels both exuberant and inviting.

Tip 3: “Scent is very evocative so I invest in plenty of scented candles and always have a real tree.’’

Why not keep things seasonal and opt for a Frankincense Candle from Parks London? Or, if you’ve put up a synthetic Christmas tree but don’t want to lose out on that seasonal woody scent, take a look at their signature Black Candle. Fragranced with oak, birch, patchouli and musk, this candle strikes rich earthy notes and will enhance your home’s ambience in no time.

Tip 4: “Cosy up cold floors by layering rugs. I love to overlap patterns with vibrant plain designs.’’

Our Zoe Glencross Mottram Meadow, Athene, Beaumont and Bengal rugs make for a ravishing combination.

We’re 100% behind Sophie’s eclectic approach to layering rugs and would advise going for a mix of geometric prints and soft textures. Set your sights on rugs with complementary colour schemes but then let your imagination run wild when it comes to patterns. Fortune favours the brave!

Tip 5: “This is the time of year to celebrate ‘more is more’. Invest in twice as many fairy lights and keep hanging the baubles until your tree is drooping with the weight!’’

We’re seriously crushing on Sophie’s Christmas tree! The juxtaposition of mismatched decorations and delicate ice-white lights helps to create an explosion of vibrancy and says celebration from trunk to treetop.
