Father’s Day is just over a week away, so we imagine dads around the country are getting ready to sit back, put their feet up and request as many cups of tea or beer refills as possible without having to leave the comfort of their seat! With this in mind, we were intrigued to find out which of our sofa.com pieces would appeal to a Father who wanted to maximise on his day of relaxation!
So, we invited TV’s John Thomson, who you may recognise from watching Cold Feet, Coronation Street, Men Behaving Badly and The Fast Show (to name just a few) for a chat and to choose his three favourite sofa.com pieces he’d love in his home this Father’s Day
John, you have two beautiful daughters, Olivia and Sophia. How will you be planning on spending your Father’s Day with them this year? Do you have any family traditions on Dad’s Day?
I’m a really keen cook, so we’ll probably steer clear of an overpriced meal out and have a family dinner at home, cooked by daddy.
John’s first choice: Jasper armchair

The nation has fallen in love with your character, Pete Gifford, on Cold Feet all over again since the revival of the show. What similarities do you see between yourself and Pete in your parenting style?
We’re worlds apart. I’m much more hands on than Pete. He loves football and sport; I’m very happy to taking the girls to the theatre and the ballet. If Pete’s an alpha male then I’m a delta male. He’s a man’s man and I’m the girl’s daddy.
John’s second choice: Valentin footstool
“Feet up, watching Saturday night TV with my daughters munching popcorn together.”
You mention that our Valentin footstool is the perfect place to put your feet up and watch Saturday night TV with your daughters. Do you have a go-to film that you love watching altogether?
That’s really tricky, because their ages are so disparate – one’s 8 and the other’s 15. We all love The Incredibles though, so it would probably be that. We’re really looking forward to seeing the new one when it’s released this summer.
John’s third choice: Henry bed in a box

We can’t wait for the next series of Cold Feet this year! How is it back filming again with the Cold Feet gang?
Fantastic! I am so blessed to be doing a job that I love with a team that I love. When we come back to film it’s like having a school reunion with your best mates.
