Get look costello sofa

Our Costello sofa draws its inspiration from contemporary Italian furniture, which is known for its elegant, sophisticated and simple design. For the new season, we’ve given the cool Costello a makeover – swapping its sleek, brushed steel legs for a smooth, wooden plinth that instantly gives the design a Mid-century edge. Beautifully complementing the rustic quality of the wood, we’ve chosen a stunning vintage leather – rich brown in tone – to dress our Costello up for spring. And for those of you who are fans of the uncomplicated, fresh aesthetic of the Mid-century trend, we’ve put together a guide on how we chose to style this chic leather number – focusing on pared-down forms, contemporary patterns and natural materials to create a space full of comfort and style.

1. The idea of creating a connection with the natural world underpins the Mid-century trend, which we’ve introduced with beautiful pops of fresh greenery – essentially, bringing the outside in. This Waitrose spider plant offers wonderful shape to a space and really adds some depth and colour to an otherwise neutral palette. 2. With a tall back and clean lines, our Costello three seat sofa in Satchel vintage leather is every bit as comfy as it is sleek. This strikingly soft leather shows off the natural grains and characteristics of the hide – giving its surface a rustic, vintage charm that only gets more beautiful with age. 3. In the words of William Morris, “have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful”. With this Roberts Revival Radio, you can have both – its robust wooden cabinet and stylish grille lending iconic fifties styling to your interior. 4. This occasional table from Cox and Cox is a timeless and stylish design, ideal for a living space with its handy slatted shelf to store those much loved magazines and books underneath. Crafted from durable carbonised bamboo, the table ties in beautifully with the oak legs of the Costello sofa – creating a sense of cohesion throughout the room. 5. Made in Italy from high quality Borosilicate glass, this striking The Conran Shop glass cylinder jug is accentuated by hints of smoke, blue and white and makes a vibrant and versatile accessory to style the coffee table. (We think it will be even better when filled with a delicious cocktail for the summer months!) 6. We love this Olio White Mug, by Barber and Osgerby for Royal Doulton – the perfect companion to sit back and relax with after gathering some valuable styling inspiration! 7. Acting as the perfect little touch of contemporary influence, this Abigail Ahern vase has been crafted from glass with a dimpled effect and brightens up a space with its wonderful hint of green. The perfect accompaniment to the smoke & blue glass cylinder jug, this vase is available at Selfridges8. With a dark wood that beautifully complements the leather Costello, we adore this vintage 1950s coffee table from Pamono – its floral decorated glass top increasing the feeling of space. 9. Combining modern style with elegant design, our cowhide parquet Birch Chevron rug is a total show-stopper and adds a hint of luxury to the space. Made from 100% leather hand-stitched panels, this beautiful design incorporates a wide spectrum of neutral tones through geometric pattern – acting as the perfect piece to tie this room together. 10. We believe that lighting should really make a statement in a home and this otto table lamp by Pooky really is an object of beauty. The carved wooden base lends a rustic charm, whilst the narrow profile of the lampshade adds height to the space. 11. The simplest yet most effective way of styling your sofa, our house scatter cushions allow you to subtly introduce texture, colour and pattern. We’ve paired our Balmoral Celtic check scatter cushions with our Heron Herringbone recycled wools scatter cushions – their wool composition giving a gentle nod to the Mid-century era’s focus on natural materials. Understated stripes are layered on top of a delicate herringbone print to give this space another dimension.
