Dreamy dressing room inspiration with Fern About Town
A dressing room can make a luxurious addition to any home. Not only does it provide a serene and calming space to get ready in both the morning and the evening, but the addition of more space means you can keep your bedroom decluttered of any extra shoes or clothes which you may have lying around, which could lead to a better night’s sleep – and who doesn’t want that?
Someone who knows a thing or two about beautiful dressing rooms is the creator behind lifestyle blog, Fern About Town. We invited Fern to give us a little sneak peak into her dressing room which features our Georgette footstool in Lychee smart velvet. Comfort is important when selecting a chair or ottoman for a dressing room, however, you can certainly let design lead the way when making your decisions, and Fern has incorporated the Georgette beautifully into her bright and elegant space.
Over to you Fern…
I’m bringing you through the keyhole today, as I take you on a little tour of my dressing room. Your home is a reflection of your personal style, but perhaps no room is more so than a dressing room!
As a style and beauty blogger, my dressing room is often a revolving door of samples so it’s really important for me that the space doesn’t just function for my blog, but also my day-to-day wardrobe. It’s the place I start my day, so it was important to create a space for getting ready and for “me time”. One of my favourite daily rituals is applying my skincare and make up at my dressing table.
The latest addition to my dressing room is the beautiful “Georgette” velvet ottoman. My personal style, both in my wardrobe and home is very classic and feminine, and I’ve always favoured a palette of neutral tones. The Georgette, with it’s luxurious quilting in “Lychee” smart velvet, a delicate blush-shade fabric that is new for SS’18, strikes a perfect balance of timelessness and femininity. The perfect accessory for this room (and also useful for reaching the highest shelves of my wardrobe!).
My dressing room is my little sanctuary and, whilst I don’t tend to write in here, it is the place I rummage around for inspiration; be it the stash of new-in beauty products, or finding a favourite old dress and re-imagining it for the new season. I’ll also let you in on a secret… this room happens to have the best natural lighting in my small London abode, so it’s where I take a lot of my blog photos. If you follow me on Instagram, you might just recognise one or two corners!
I suspect you’ll see a lot more of my new ottoman in future posts, as the new statement piece in this room.
Does your personal style reflect in the rest of your home?
