Stella Modular Large Right Hand Chaise (285x180cm) in Undyed Highland Tweed

Helpful, friendly, couldn't fault.
Stella Medium Corner Sofa In Graphite House Cotton Blend
  • Monday, 14th December 2015
The on line reviews, which I now think must be written by sofa.com stated this to be 'sink in comfy soft'; it isn't. If you image what sitting on a sealed bag of finely packed flour would feel like, this is it. It initially feels like a park bench, but after two plus weeks it gradually eases, to a very very firm sofa. There is no 'sink in' feeling. The backs are not supporting. Because the chair pads are convex shaped, you either have to be rolled to the back of the chair and face the ceiling, or sit propped on the front edge of the seat. We have bad backs sitting on it, it is almost impossible to get comfortable. Half the time you wriggle and squiggle to get comfortable, and the other half you struggle to stay on the sofa, as you feel you are being shoved off.

The fabric, chosen for its durability, and because it was the most reasonable priced, (cotton blend) is rough, when you rub you hand over it, I.e. not at all soft. No 'OMG how lovely' feeling. My sofa was already 2200 with this fabric.

The product itself is probably well made, and I like that the covers could be replaced, with duplicates, or removed for professional cleaning. They also look nicely finished off inside.

The delivery was a bit chaotic. I was given a date and time which then got changed from morning to afternoon. Then they were late. The net result was that, although I received a two hour window, it took all day. The guys had driven miles and were harassed and sweaty. They managed to take a lump out of my door frame taking the sofa into my sitting room and didn't even acknowledge the fact, let alone apologise.

I knew instantly the sofa was not for me. I wish I had got them to take it straight away, but they seemed very rushed and were driving back to Stirling, a good few hours’ drive home. It was the most uncomfortable sofa I have ever sat on, and I said so straight way. They assured me it would settle in a few days.....just to sit on it and shake the cushions...rubbish in other words ....I texted the company the same evening and called them the next to reject the sofa and request a full refund. It had taken 7 weeks to get the sofa, but because of their ' very successful year' and it now being the middle of November, they couldn't collect the thing for three weeks!

My experience of their after sales service is not good. They have a complete inability to be flexible. Their priority is to get more sofas to new customers, not keep recent customers happy. Although the sofa was delivered in an unmarked transit van by two polish chaps they could not organise men with a van to collect it, even if I paid for it! Not least for three weeks anyway. They clearly have no idea how inconvenient it is to look after someone else’s brand new sofa in your house. How they expect to receive it back in pristine condition is beyond comprehension, save that they might think we all live in mansions and can 'close off' the 'drawing room' for several weeks.

I have a sitting room that is 10 X 16 feet so this sofa was difficult to avoid and I have two cats. I explained I couldn't ensure that the sofa would be in pristine unused condition for three weeks and they were leaving it entirely at their own risk. They agreed to this in writing and to a full refund, to include the scotch guard and delivery, but it took several very heated calls to get this agreement! Of course, to add to the inconvenience, that left me without a sofa for Xmas and, although I found one with a short delivery time, I had to put that delivery on hold because I could not have both the new and the 'old' one in the house.

I spent weeks researching the best sofas before this purchase, and, convinced mainly by the on line reviews, and by the fact that this company seemed so reasonable if I wanted to return the goods, I bought from them. In the aftermath of rejecting this one I had six days to choose another sofa before the 'guaranteed for Xmas' deadline expired. I couldn't risk another on line purchase (after this experience will I ever do that again? ). I ended up in DFS, and bought one for less than half the price, not at all what I wanted for a sofa, but at least it is comfortable. In short I was totally messed about by Sofa.com and would not recommend their services or products. Certainly the stellar medium corner sofa is not at all comfortable and a few weeks sitting on it has not improved it one tiny but. Before they took it away I took all the throws off it, I had put to protect it. What a mess! All the seats looked lumpy and the fabric had bobbles on it.

Love the Stella Chaise, really comfy. Got it in brushed linen cotton in Stone. Is very light and the material crumples a bit but overall it's really comfy seems well made.
